I’m Rick Abbott. I was recently hired in the sales team to bring Syncta into the lives of all those hard-working backflow testers trying to dig themselves out of the frustrations and hassles of processing paper tests.
Back in 2001, I became a Chicago suburb transplant (Go Bears!) to the Portland, Oregon metro area (Oregon City). The Northwest is a mecca of camping, kayaking, rafting, skiing, and just about every other outdoor activity. My oldest boy Zack and I both have a background in the old-school Eagle Scout ways, while the rest of my family certainly enjoy exploring the Great Northwest. How to describe myself though beyond this? Hmm.
I have a degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and played in the marching band drum section for the Illini. Four years of computer science math didn’t pan out, and I ended up getting straight A’s writing papers for my English Lit degree.
I am part of a local church in Oregon City, though you can’t fit me into a pigeonhole stereotype. I enjoy craft breweries, wine tastings, and nearly everything fun where people are having fun. For me, people drama is the spice that life is made of.
I’ve been known to volunteer often and gain the most enjoyment from helping others. And sometimes I think I’m known for the success of my family. My daughter Caitlin is recently a new Beaver’s fan as a freshman at Oregon State University. (I was hoping for the Ducks, but oh well…) My boy Zack works over at Bob’s Red Mill, a local mill for cereals, flours, and organic mixes, etc. My youngest daughter Hannah is an 11-year-old aspiring dancer, cheerleader, singer, actor, well… I’m not really sure. But she loves anything creative, artistic, and comical.
My wife Angee is a Wisconsin transplant (Go Packers… Yea! Uhumm…), so we are quite spirited at the Abbott house when the Bears play the Packers! And I’ve made it clear to her that “My son WILL NOT wear a cheese hat!” Angee works downtown Portland at a larger dental office, and has added a great deal to their office experience.
That’s a little bit about me and my life here in Oregon. I look forward to using my skills to help Watts and Syncta become more successful in helping our customers succeed!
