With kids back in school, education is at the front of a lot of thoughts.
The amount of education that goes with backflow is fairly minimal–every two years or so (depending on your state’s requirements) you take a few hours of online education and tests. Most of it remains the same information you’ve learned before though. You regurgitate the stored knowledge and move on.
There is room too look at some education options though–typically in the form of conventions, conferences, and tradeshows.
There’s several within the next month or so that might appeal to you.
Conferences and Expos
ABPA Western Regional Backflow Conference takes place in Las Vegas over September 26 and 27th. You’re able to register online which is nice–the last date to register online is September 16. We’re attending for the first time this year–so if you make it out there, find us among the expo booths to chat and pick up a free Syncta koozie! We’ll be the one with the bright blue shirts–you can’t miss us.
IAPMO’s 87th annual Education and Business Conference will be held in Albuquerque this year on September 27th–the conference boasts great educational resources. It’s also a great way to network with some of the industry’s leaders.
The Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling Contractors Association (PHCC) has their upcoming conference, called Connect 2016, in San Antonio Texas over October 19, 20, and 21. There’s tons of information presented there. From educational sessions like “millennials in construction” to one featuring using data to crush revenue goals, there’s something for everyone. While I realize that you might be attending purely for business, there’s an after-hours tour of the Alamo, and that sounds awesome! Here’s the brochure if you’re interested.
I’ve mentioned before that the backflow industry is not stagnant. Take advantage of these conferences to educate yourself and make your business that much better!
