Samantha – The newest customer success member of the Syncta Team!

Hi, I am Samantha, the new Customer Success Specialist here at Syncta, and I am so excited to be a part of this great team! Even though I just started, I like to refer to myself as the “senior” staff member here at Syncta. (I turned 55 this year!) I look forward to getting to know our customers and helping them make the most of our awesome product.

I am a central Oregon native but have lived in the SW Portland area since 2009. I love to garden, attend live music events and I am crazy about my family. We recently adopted a four-year-old Golden Retriever, Nala, who is so much fun and enjoys going to work with Mom at the Syncta office.

My Claim to Fame

The software industry and the internet in general have been a passion of mine since the very early 90s. I was bragging to Sasha the other day I have been online so long, that one of my claims to fame is I possessed the very first samantha@hotmail.com address!

Software products have come a long way in helping to make people’s lives easier since then, and the way to access these great products has become even easier.

When I first worked for one of the very first internet service providers back in 1994, we would have to go to the client’s home to install the software on the customer’s computer from a floppy disk! One of my favorite customer service stories involves going to an elderly lady’s home who was having extreme difficulty connecting to the net. In 2018, it is probably hard to picture someone using their mouse as a foot pedal, but yes, this really happened! 😊

“Mobile” Phones have come a long way!

Some of our customers had “mobile phones” but they had to carry them in a bag and they were big and clunky, and the thought of uploading software to them would have been preposterous! In 1994, if someone had told me that the gentleman coming out to test my sprinkler’s backflow system could eventually record all the information on their cell phone and submit it for invoicing with the click of a button, I would have laughed uproariously.

My Déjà Vu Moment

I recently finished going back to school for two years and was so eager to rejoin the workforce! Customer service has always been my passion, and when I found this position at Syncta, it sounded like a perfect fit from the moment I read the job posting. To be a contributing part of a team that creates and supports technology to simplify customer’s lives was exactly the goal I had set for myself after graduating.

After applying for the job, I decided to spend some time perusing the Syncta web site, and researching the company and product more extensively. I knew I had made the right choice and just had to be a part of this team was when I read that Syncta was founded in Jeremiah’s garage. That might sound a little crazy, but it was such a déjà vu moment for me when I read that! I knew I wanted to once again be a part of a start up with humble beginnings like the ISP had been.
